Fall 2005

With Labor Day behind us, we are busy preparing for fall and winter. Last year the fall newsletter was full of warnings about high fuel prices, hurricanes and Old Man Winter. Regrettably, the situation has not improved; fuel is more expensive than last year, hurricane season is upon us, and yes, it will probably snow again this winter. We are predicting that prices of almost everything will go up due to increased transportation expenses.

Union Farm Equipment, Inc. is ready to help make your life in Maine more comfortable. We are well stocked with value priced equipment to move snow and prepare firewood. We are purchasing in volume to receive larger discounts and passing the savings along to our customers. Many of our implements are discounted 20%. Our goal is to provide quality products and service at a reasonable price.

When it comes to adding value to our products, Union Farm Equipment, Inc. consistently outpaced the competition. We were the first dealer in the state to include a block heater, bucket hook and rear work light on our new tractors. We provide operator training on all new equipment. We provide a 50-hour service package with all our new tractors (please ask for details). We offer free delivery of most items in our normal trade area. We even provide free transportation for warranty work on new tractors. Of course, all of our equipment is set up, full of fuel, tested and ready to work. We are always looking for ways to add value to our products and services.

SPECIALS
The cost of living in Maine has been rising rapidly the past two years. Union Farm Equipment, Inc. has been trying to find the best values we can so our customers can stretch their dollars farther. We have begun posting a Specials List on the website for our overstocks and leftovers. We have a good selection of pre-owned tractors and equipment. Next time you are shopping don't forget to look at our web site for a deal. Visit the Specials at Union Farm Equipment.

SERVICE
One of the best ways to stretch your budget is to properly maintain your equipment. Fuel economy and equipment life are improved and major repairs can be reduced with routine maintenance. We are running our "We Care, Winter Care Special" for generators and snow blowers through Thanksgiving. For only $59.95 we will pick up your snow blower or generator, completely service and test the unit and deliver it back to you home. Please call Wendell at 1-800-935-7999 to schedule an appointment.

Our Mobile Service Van has been tremendously successful. We have a trained technician on the road 5 days per week performing routine maintenance and repairs. For only $99.95 (most compact tractors), plus transportation, our technician will change engine oil and filter, grease all fittings, check and top off all fluids, remove all used oils, clean air filter and radiator screen, change fuel filter and bleed fuel system, check wheel lugs and tire pressure, check and adjust belts and hoses, clean battery terminals and check water level, and perform a operation and safety check. Please call Dave or Wendell to schedule your annual service at 800-935-7999. Visit the Service Department at Union Farm Equipment.

PARTS
Properly maintained equipment runs more efficiently and lasts longer. Tractors and power equipment can last a lifetime with proper care and maintenance. If you prefer to do your own maintenance, our Parts Department is well stocked with oils, filters, shear bolts and other common maintenance items. We recommend genuine OEM parts and filters for all power equipment. Why take a chance on "will fit" parts? Visit the Parts Department Union Farm Equipment.

SNOW REMOVAL
What better way to save money, clear the driveway when you want it done, and put the snow where you want it than to do it yourself? We have walk behind single and two stage snowblowers, 3 point hitch mounted snowblowers, front mounted snowblowers for lawn tractors and compact utility tractors, front blades for tractors and lawn tractors and 3 point hitch blades.

We have made a special purchase of Toro 826LE snowblowers. This is a two-stage 8 hp 26" Power Max snowblower. For the last two years we sold this snowblower for $999.00. This year we are offering a preseason special of $899.00. Hurry in, at this price we expect to sell out quickly and we cannot get any more at this price. Visit Toro.

Diamond has made an adapter to fit their popular skid steer trip edge blade to a front-end loader without a skid steer coupler. This blade is available in 7.5' and 8' widths and fits most 30+ hp tractors with loaders. Diamond also offers Meyers full trip 5', 6', 61/2' blades to fit on smaller tractors using the bucket pins. Stop by and see how easy these blades are to install and operate. Visit Meyer at Union Farm Equipment.

Of course, we stock Honda snowblowers. Honda snowblowers feature reliable Honda engines and hydrostatic transmissions. While the initial investment may be higher than other brands, a Honda snowblower could last the rest of your life. If you are in the market for a new snowblower be sure to stop by and test-drive a Honda. Visit Honda at Union Farm Equipment.

FALL CLEANUP
Now that it is difficult to find a kid to run the rake most homeowners are faced with the choice of hiring a professional or doing it themselves. If you are interested in saving the expense of hiring someone and want to make the job easier, try a handheld or a backpack blower from Echo, or a wheeled blower or lawn vacuum from Billy Goat. These powerful blowers and vacuums will make short work of all the leaves in your lawn. Visit Billy Goat. Visit Echo.

FINANCING
Kubota and New Holland are offering 0.00% financing for 36 months on compact tractors. New Holland is also offering 0.00% for 60 months on the TC29 and TC30. Honda is offering 12 months no payments, no interest on generators and snowblowers. What better way to stretch your dollars than to use someone else's money for free?

STANDBY POWER
A generator is one of the most important investments a homeowner can make. While it is fairly easy to put a price on a freezer full of rotten food or a house with frozen pipes, how valuable is a hot shower or a warm meal during a power outage. Many local homes rely on private wells with electric pumps. When the power goes out, even the toilet stops working. A generator is inexpensive insurance for your home and family.

We stock quality portable generators from Honda, Kubota and Winco, as well as automatic standby generators from Winco. We stock automatic transfer switches from Winco and manual transfer switches from Reliance and Gen Tran. Our Parts Department is well stocked with outdoor power inlets, generator cables, plugs, and other popular generator accessories. Visit Honda. Visit Winco.

New this year is the Kubota GL7000. The GL7000 is the replacement for the GL6500. This two cylinder, liquid cooled, diesel powered generator is quieter, and runs longer than its predecessor. The GL7000 comes standard with an hour meter and a thermostat. Regardless of whether you need a standby or a portable generator, stop by and see the largest selection of generators in the area. Visit Kubota.

ALTERNATIVE HEAT
What better way to save money this winter than burning wood? We stock a complete line of forestry implements and accessories for the small woodlot owner. We have winches; log arches; cordwood saws and wood splitters to run on your compact tractor. We stock the Timberwolf line of commercial wood splitters with Honda engines to make fitting your wood less of a chore. Echo chain saws are in stock and carry a two-year homeowner warranty and a one-year commercial warranty.

While we are on the subject of saving money, do you have all the recommended safety equipment? A set of chaps and a helmet are a lot cheaper than a trip to the emergency room and lost wages. We have a good selection of chaps, helmets, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protectors. We also stock felling wedges, chokers, chain files, peaveys and other logging accessories. Stop by and talk to the "Friendly Folks" about making your wood harvesting operation as safe as possible. Visit Fransgard. Visit Timberwolf.

YEAR END
Now is the time to talk to your accountant. It is possible that a purchase this fall could help significantly lower your taxes. The tractor or excavator you have been considering may be a better deal than you thought.
