Summer 2005

This spring's weather was less than agreeable but, because of you, our customers, our business has been very good this spring. We have made it through Memorial Day and are looking forward to a busy summer.

Chip, Split and Drive Day was a success, even if Mother Nature was less than cooperative. We had a great turnout and everyone enjoyed the demonstrations in our field. We would like to offer a large "thank you" to all the vendors and customers who helped make this day possible. We look forward to a similar day next year.

FIREWOOD The high price of heating oil has created an increase in demand for firewood. We have been selling wood splitters almost as fast as they come in. If you plan to split your own wood be sure to check out the commercial grade splitters from Timberwolf. Check out the Timberwolf web site.

Whether you are gathering your own firewood or managing crop trees. A logging winch or log arch is helpful moving wood. Both of these implements help lift the butt end of the log for easier transport. We have log arches from MDS and Mammoth as well as Fransgard logging winches to help minimize damage to the wood and your land during a harvest operation. As fall and cold weather approach price increases and product shortages in firewood preparation equipment are more likely. As always we recommend shopping early for the best selection and prices.

Our goal is to have pricing competitive with the big box stores and service second to none. We have always avoided selling products in a box. All of our equipment is set up, full of fuel and ready to work. We even offer a free lifetime blade sharpening policy (please ask for details). The next time you are looking for a mower or trimmer be sure to check our prices. We are sure you will find us very competitive.

SERVICE The mowing season is upon us. Our small engine mechanics are getting every one ready to mow. To help ease the crunch during the spring we offer We Care Winter Care every year. This program includes pick up and delivery in the local area and a full service for a flat rate so we can ensure you will be ready to mow when the grass turns green. If you did not take advantage of this program, we certainly recommend calling us next February/March for an appointment.

Don't forget to start your generator and snowblower this summer. The biggest problem we see with seasonal equipment is improper storage. It is always good to know that your snowblower and generator are ready for the next storm. To help ensure your equipment is serviced and ready we will be offering "We Care Fall Care" again this fall to prepare your snowblower and generator for winter. Please give Service a call and schedule an appointment. Remember if you can't come to us, we can come to you. Check out the UFE Service web site.

PARTS We recommend using genuine parts on your machines. All parts and lubricants are not created equal. "One size fits all" parts do not ensure maximum performance and longevity. If you are getting your mower ready for the season, our parts department is well stocked with air, oil, and fuel filters. We have Kubota, New Holland and Honda oil in stock. Of course, we have genuine OEM replacement blades for all the mowers, tillers, and rotary cutters we sell.

Haying season is approaching and we are well stocked with parts for mowers, balers, rakes and tedders. Whether you are getting your equipment ready or doing an emergency repair, our Parts Department is well stocked and open six days each week. Check out the UFE Parts web site.

IMPLEMENTS The high price of steel has driven implement prices upwards over the last two years. We have been trying to stay ahead of the increases with a large selection of implements in stock. We recommend shopping early for the best prices. We also have some "Overstocks, Closeouts, Leftovers and Other Great Buys" at UFE Specials.

We have implements for most any task. Why not ask "The Friendly Folks" how your compact tractor can do even more to help get your chores done? We have grooming mowers, rotary tillers, rotary cutters, rakes, blades, backhoes and too many other implements to include here. Please feel free to stop by and find the perfect tool to get your jobs done this summer.

RENTAL If you do not have the right equipment for your next job, please give our Rental Department a call. We have three mini excavators (8,000 and 9,000 pounds) and two compact tractor loader backhoes in our fleet. We can deliver these to your home or jobsite for the day, week or month.

GENERATORS "The Friendly Folks" have one of the largest selections of generators in midcoast Maine. Our staff is well versed on helping match the generator to your needs and if repairs are needed we have factory-trained technicians. Of course, all of our generators are set up, full of fuel, load tested, and ready to work.

The National Weather Service is predicting another active hurricane season for 2005. Whether we are preparing for hurricanes, ice storms or other natural calamities a generator is a great investment. While a wood stove will keep you warm, a generator will run the stove, television, radio, lights, well pump, sump pump, and keep you warm.

We stock Winco home standby generators. These propane-fueled generators are fully automatic. Once this unit is installed it automatically tests itself each month. When the power goes out this unit starts, transfers the house to generator power and keeps everything running as if the power were still on. When power is restored the unit automatically transfers the house back to the power company, cools down and shuts off. You do not even need to be home to start it. Check out the Winco web site.

Honda's EU series generators are the perfect companions for camping this summer. Not only are the EU generators quiet, but they are also fuel-efficient. Available in 1,000, 2,000 and 3,000 watt versions, the EU series is ideal when a lightweight portable generator is needed. Stop by and see why a Honda generator is the ultimate camping accessory. Our prices are always competitive with the non-servicing mail order and big box retailers. Check out the Honda web site.
