Winter 2005

Greetings from Union Farm Equipment, Inc. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our friends and customers for making 2004 another successful year. This is the second year we have sold well over 300 tractors plus the related implements. We have truly become a volume dealer - a far cry from six tractors in 1948. This size allows us to better negotiate with our suppliers and pass the savings along to our customers. In many cases we are able to discount implements by as much as 20%.

We have always tried to provide more value to our customers. Our purchasing power allows us to sell quality products at a discount price. Our prices are competitive with the big box stores and all of our products are set-up, full of fuel, tested and ready to work. We have factory trained service technicians to set up and repair all of our equipment. Local delivery is available on most products. We truly are an outdoor power equipment superstore.

Winter is slowly overtaking us. The days are getting a little longer, but we still commute in the dark. Currently we are well stocked with snowblowers but, we have yet to see a good nor'easter, and it is still early in the winter. We are busy getting everything ready for spring. There are lots of tractors, implements, lawn mowers and lawn tractors to set up and have ready for the busy season.

UPCOMING EVENTS
We are planning our annual "Cutter's Day" on Wednesday March 23, 2005.The focus of this day is commercial mowing and landscaping equipment. We will have manufacturers representatives, demos, and some of the best deals of the year. Of course, we will serve breakfast and lunch.

New for 2005 is our first "Chip, Split and Drive". We will feature Chippers, Splitters, Chain Saws, Tractors and Utility Vehicles; all the things that make woods work more enjoyable and safer. We will have manufacturers representatives on hand to demonstrate their equipment and we are planning an obstacle course for the utility vehicles to put them through their paces. We will have hot dogs and chips for lunch. We will be holding this event April 23, 2005.

SPECIALS
We have recently added an improved "Specials" section to the website. If you are looking for deals on leftovers, overstocks, closeouts and other great buys be sure to check our "Specials Page".

SNOWBLOWERS
We expect some snow before the winter ends. Whether you recently moved and need snow removal equipment or you are questioning the old snowblower's ability to keep up with the next storm stop by and check out the latest from Toro and Honda. We still have a limited supply of walk behind and tractor mounted snowblowers. If you have ever wondered how to deal with snow and not ruin the yard and landscaping; try a snowblower. There is nothing, save a snow shovel, that will only clear the desired area and get the snow out of the way. No more torn up lawn. No more ever narrowing drive. ...just a neat clean drive without banks. Stop by for a demonstration and see how much fun snow removal can be.

SERVICE
Now is the time to get your equipment serviced and SAVE$$$. We are running our annual Winter Fix program. All repairs over $500.00 will receive a 10% discount on parts and labor in January and February. There is no better time than now to get that big job done and have your equipment ready for spring.

We will also start our We Care Winter Care program in the near future. We Care Winter Care covers walk behind lawn mowers and lawn tractors. For a flat rate we will pick up your equipment (in the local area), service it and return it to your home. This program has been very successful; it allows us to get your mower ready ahead of time and reduces the backlog of mower services in the spring. Please call Wendell at 785-4451 or 1-800-935-7999 for more information on either of these programs and to schedule an appointment.

NEW HOLLAND
New Holland Boomers TM are earning their reputation as "best in class". New Holland has the "best in class" visibility; "best in class" torque rise; "best in class" operator station; "best in class" ergonomics; "best in class" loader capacities; and "best in class" three point hitch capacities. New Holland tractors are loaded with features that make others appear obsolete.

Sensitrac TM is available on several models. This feature automatically engages the front axle when the rear wheels slip and then disengages when it is not needed. Most people have seen automatic four-wheel drive on a SUV, now we can offer it on a tractor. It is no longer necessary to drive around with the four-wheel drive engaged in case you need it.

The New Holland Quick-Latch TM system allows the operator to unlatch the loader from the seat and remove the loader in just minutes. New Holland now offers Skid Steer compatible quick hitches on many of their loaders so aftermarket attachments can be installed easily in place of the bucket. Boomers TM also allow the operator to see the entire top edge of the bucket with "best in class" visibility.

If you would like to see how easy it can be to drive a modern tractor "The Friendly Folks" will be happy to arrange a test drive of the latest Boomers TM.

KUBOTA
Kubota has introduced several new models for 2005. We are proud to have received the first L4400DT in Maine. This Standard L-series features a powerful 45 hp 4-cylinder diesel engine; 8F X 4R mechanical shuttle shift transmission; four-wheel drive; a full open hood; a 1818 pound capacity loader and a 2870 pound capacity three point hitch. All this with the Kubota quality we are accustomed to for less than $20,000.00.

Kubota has also introduced the L2800HST and L3400HST. These tractors are hydrostatic versions of the L2800DT and L3400DT and feature powerful 28 and 34 horsepower diesel engines; four-wheel drive; and front end loaders. These units are due in before spring. Please stop by for a test drive and see how affordable a hydrostatic drive tractor can be.

Kubota has also introduced the GR series lawn tractor. These units are available with gas or diesel engines. These units feature power steering, hydrostatic transmission, hydraulic deck lift, four-wheel drive, and Glide Steer. Glide Steer allows the inner wheels to free wheel in a tight radius turn while the outside tires push the tractor leaving a very small area of uncut grass.

We are planning for another great year of Kubota sales. We have ordered plenty of tractors to support our goal. If last year repeats itself we recommend shopping early for the best selection. Kubota has had a hard time keeping up with demand and we did have some model shortages in 2004.

WALKER
We have once again ordered a truckload of Walkers. This program allows us to purchase in volume for greater savings that we will pass along to our customers. Walker has introduced a new model designed for home use, the MB. This unit features a 48" side discharge deck and an 18 hp engine. We have ordered some of these units and are excited to offer Walker's commercial quality to the homeowner. We will have these units for Cutter's Day. Be sure to stop by for a test drive and the best deal of the season.

TORO
Toro has made improvements in their walk behind lawnmowers and their Z400 zero radius turn mowers. The Super Recycler cast aluminum deck lawnmowers are completely redesigned for 2005. The Super Recyclers now have side discharge capabilities and Personal Pace self-propelled drive. In addition, certain models feature electric start; and BOS (Blade Override System). BOS is a blade clutch that allows the operator to start the mower once and not have to restart every time they let go of the handle. Only the blade will stop the engine will continue to run. Best of all the Super Recyclers feature a 5 Year Warranty.

Toro has continued to expand their zero radius turn mower line up. The TimeCutter Z and TimeCutter ZX are homeowner mowers which may cut your mowing time by 50%. New for 2005 is a much-expanded line up in the Z400 series commercial mowers. Toro has 48" and 52" decks in three different levels of features. The base models feature a 7-gauge deck and commercial grade quality with a homeowner's price. The top shelf models feature Toro's TurboForce Deck that allows the operator to change the discharge pattern based upon mowing conditions for the best possible quality of cut. If you wish to get the lawn mowed and go fishing- stop by for a test-drive and see how much quicker a zero radius turn mower really is.

DEALS
Interest rates, exchange rates, fuel and steel are all to blame for the rise in prices. Last year we had a continuous battle to stay ahead of price increases and steel surcharges. All signs point to a repeat this year. We have ordered as much as we can to lock in prices, but any reorders may be at a higher price. Many manufactures have already raised prices since we placed spring orders. We recommend that you shop early to find the best prices on any equipment this year. We will continue to shop for the best values and pass the savings on to our customers.
