Cabs In the Northeast cabs are a popular addition to compact tractors. Not only will they keep you warm and dry in the winter but they will also keep you in the shade during the summer. Cabs vary in price and quality. Factory cabs tend to be the nicest. While some factory cabs are an afterthought, most are built as part of the tractor. Many factory cabs incorporate the ROPS into the cab. This makes for a nicer appearance and a roomier cab. Factory cabs usually have more glass than after market cabs and air conditioning to keep them cool in the summer. Aftermarket cabs from Sims and Curtis are more affordable than a factory cab. These cabs use the existing ROPS and are designed to fit a particular model of tractor. They are painted to match the tractor. These cabs are available in two versions, hard sided and soft sided. The hard sided cabs have steel and glass doors and a glass rear window. The soft-sided cabs have removable jeep style doors and a removable vinyl rear window. The soft-sided cabs are ideal for people who need protection in the winter, but do not want to open and close doors all summer. There are a number of universal fit cabs, which have zip in doors. These cabs tend to fit poorly and have no wipers or heaters to help fight the elements. At present we try to avoid theses cabs due to their shortcomings. Sunshades are typically clamped to the ROPS. These are useful during the summer sun, but they also provide limited protection from rain and snow. At present none of the above cabs and sunshades provide falling object protection (FOPS). FOPS is standard on Kubota industrial tractor loader backhoes and excavators as well as New Holland skid steer loaders. If you require FOPS please ask us for more information. |
