Automatic Standby Generators Many people do not want the hassle of hooking up a generator. They do not wish to or are not able to move a portable generator outside, start the engine, hook up the cables and then flip switches to transfer power. These people also do not wish to refill the fuel tank, run the generator periodically and perform routine maintenance. If any of the above criteria apply to you an automatic generator is the answer. The generator is installed outside the home and hooked to a large propane tank for extended run time. An automatic transfer switch is mounted in the house. This switch senses when the power goes out; starts the generator; and transfers the house electrical supply from the power company to the generator. When the power comes back on; the power is switched back to the power company; the generator runs to cool down and then the generator turns off. Because many people forget to test their generators an automatic generator also starts once a month and tests itself so it will be ready when it is needed. It is recommended that the oil be changed annually or every 50 hours of operation. We can send a service technician to your home and perform this service as required. |
